Information on where to find the PEVSoft tools...

Stage 1: Before you patch

Before you start patching, I strongly recommend doing the following. It is not a requirement, but it is advisable to ensure no problems with the patching.

In addition to this, if your system has a screensaver enabled, turn the screensaver off during the patching. Also, if the system is set to hibernate or enter sleep mode after a certain amount of time, this needs to be disabled as well.

1.Defragment the hard drive you have installed Trainz on, as well as the system drive if different.

How do I do this?

In Windows XP, click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then Disk Defragmenter. Once Disk Defragmenter appears, click the hard drive you want to defrag, then click Defragment to start the process.

In Windows Vista and 7, Disk Defragmenter can be found in the same location as on XP. Once it loads, click the hard drive you want to defragment, then click Defragment Disk.

2.Check both the hard drive you have installed Trainz on, as well as the system drive if different.

How do I do this?

1.Open (My) Computer.
2.Right-click the drive you are checking for errors.
3.Click Properties.
4.Click Tools, followed by Check Now. If you get a User Account Control dialog, click Yes or Continue.
5.Tick both boxes, then click Start.
6.If it is the system drive you are checking for errors, click Yes or Schedule Disk Check, then restart your system.

3.Clean out your temporary folder.

How do I do this?

Click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then Disk Cleanup.

Disk Cleanup will then check the drive to see what can be removed.

When it brings up it's findings, click OK, followed by
Yes.

Once these are done, you are ready to begin patching your Trainz version.
