Stage 3:Installing the patch
In this stage, I will detail how to install a patch for TS2009,TS2010, or TS12.At this point, I will assume that you have followed stages 1 and 2.
Once the patch has started to install, do not cancel the process.
Important Notes:
TS2009 - in order to install Service Pack 3 (for builds up to 41844), you must be running DirectX 9.0C August 2009 or later. I have a tutorial on how to do this in the General Trainz forum in the Trainz Discussion Forums.
All Versions - If you are using Windows XP, you must be running Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Installing the Patch
Before installing the patch, you will need to disable your antivirus software.
If you are using the auto-patch method, the patch should start automatically. If it does not, read the instructions given below.
Once the Auran Patcher window appears, check the folder reference at the top matches the folder you are attempting to patch. If it is incorrect, click the .. button to select the correct folder.
Note: This is the last point at which you can cancel the patch before it begins. Once the patch has started, cancelling it will mean a reinstall is required.
Once this is checked, click the Apply Patch button. (Note: This button may be called 'Apply Update')
The patch will now continue to patch the Trainz files(see the screenshot below), and will state when it is complete. If you get a Patch Aborted message, see this page for possible reasons.
At the end of the patching process, the patcher will automatically run a database repair. You may see some errors during this process, but usually this is not an issue, as the errors shown are what are fixed during the repair process.
Once the patching process is complete, you can move on to Stage 4: Verification.
